Growing a front runner

There’s something powerful about pumpkins! They are resilient by nature and quite easy to grow organically. At Enza Zaden, we put extra effort into making the pumpkin a frontrunner vegetable, showing the potential of healthy, organic products offering great flavor and convenience. With input from growers and resellers, we aim for predictable and consistent quality, high yield, and great shelf life. Our efforts have made us a top supplier of red pumpkin in Western Europe.

Did you know, we use our own specific aroma labels like chestnut, almond, nut, next to the regular sweetness index? We believe each pumpkin should look as great as it tastes. The dark orange flesh in our butternut is a wonderful proof of this!

We’ve got all our bases covered, with a dense international network of trials carefully evaluated by our teams. Our pumpkins show their strength on different levels, with traits favoring mechanical harvesting and increased profitability through higher yields and disease resistance. We put extra focus on combating viruses like potyvirus. All of our material is trialed in major growing areas in cooperation with growers to collect valuable information to improve our genetics. It keeps us – and our growers – one step ahead of the rest.
